Population, the Environment, and Social Change

"We have it in our power to begin the world over again"
- Thomas Paine

Change is inevitable. Throughout time, there have been endless social changes-and this is why I decided to dedicate my last post to social change. Social change is the alteration of social institutions, interactions, and elements of culture over time; it can happen quickly or slowly, but it does happen. For many, change can be quite a scary thing, but I embrace it. When we want to change things for the better, which most of us do, it can result in amazing things. And, whether we recognize it or not, change is constantly apart of our society; think about movements like the "green movement", and equality movements, also advances in technology-changes are always shaping and impacting us.

There are many causes of social change, including: revolution, cultural diffusion, inequality, war, and technology innovation. On this post, I have decided to include an interview with Arun Gandhi, a leader of social change, discussing nonviolence. Also, a great video on social entrepreneurs-those who are pioneering social change. And, lastly, a couple links on how you can promote social change. We really do have the power to change the world.
